Collaborate
to Regenerate

REFOOTURE brings farmers, communities, innovators, researchers, and decision-makers together to co-create food systems that work – for people, for nature, and for future generations.

At its heart is Collaborate to Regenerate (C2R) — a place-based multi-stakeholders approach in the Food System Innovation Platforms (FSIP) that puts four voices at the center of the transformation:

  • Community livelihoods: people whose incomes depend on the land
  • Disadvantaged stakeholders: people that have poor access to basic services
  • Nature: treated as a living system to be restored and stewarded
  • Powerholders: the public and private decision-makers who shape what’s possible

By centering all three, C2R unlocks win-win-win outcomes: communities are heard, ecosystems recover, and institutions become partners in change. Through transformative collaboration, these groups create Regenerative and Inclusive Food Systems (RIFS) – systems that restore land, strengthen livelihoods, and give voice to those most affected by food and climate challenges.

REFOOTURE is active in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda, where piloting a future facilitation of C2R through local Food System Innovation Platforms (FSIPs) and driving transformation bottom-up.
